Andy Lee takes down TLPT Main Event at APT Brisbane
October 3, 2024

The Lord Poker Tour Main Event reached an epic conclusion yesterday as Andy Lee manoeuvred from short stack to Champion on a final table stacked with talent to record his tenth six-figure result, collecting $205,305 for the win. Lee, originally from Malaysia and a long time Sydney resident, is certainly no stranger to the Australian poker community. Relocating to Sydney in 2004 to study finance, it did not take long for Lee to discover poker, and has since become one of the countries most accomplished high stakes PLO cash game players.

Lee managed his stack effectively throughout the day.
Lee is also a very accomplished tournament player, with his first major tournament breakthrough came in 2011 when he won the Star Poker Summer Series main event for $270,000. Since then, his resume includes a WSOPC Sydney $20K High Roller ring for $273,600, a WSOP Online bracelet in PLO, an Aussie Millions ring in an $1,100 Mix-Max, in addition to runner-up finishes in the Aussie Millions $25K PLO, APL Million $5K Challenge, and WSOP APAC $5K 6-Max. Nine players started the final table but only seven would make the money. Lee actually entered the final day of play as the short stack, at one point getting down to just three big blinds – those going into the centre with 8♣6♣ against the A♠8♦ of Andres Vasquez as Lee hit a flush to start his steady rise up the chip counts as others fell around him.

Andy Lee wins 2017 WSOPC Sydney $20K High Roller. Yoon Kang would then become the first to go – shoving possibly after failing to notice an open from Alex Lynskey, the hand and clip in yesterday's PMA Blog – followed by Queensland's own Josh Hutchins as the stone bubble. USA's Andres Vasquez and Colombia's Andres Gonzalez both scored their second TLPT cashes of the week, before Alex Lynskey ran into a series of unfortunate events to lock up a fifth place finish. Angel Guillen ran headlong into Yisha Chen's sun run, getting it in with J♣10♣ against her A♦J♦, both players missing completely as Chen added Guillen to her list of impressive scalps in the event; that list including Lynskey just prior, as well as Didier Guerin and Dan "Jungleman Cates" on Day 2.

Chen's run came to an end in third place, before Lee and Western Australia's Travis Endersby agreed on an ICM deal before playing it out to decide a winner. Lee eventually rivering a straight to down Endersby.
